The York Liberal Jewish community held a clothes swap event following last Saturday morning’s service as part of Mitzvah Day and Eco
Judaism.
Organised by Rabbi Elisheva Salamo and committee member and Social Action lead Sarah Hubbard, the event raised £175 for York City of Sanctuary for homeless people.
Owen Power, the Liberal community’s representative on the Board of Deputies, said: “The principle ‘every day is a mitzvah dav’. a commitment to Eco Judaism and social action are all central to the community’s ethos so, we are delighted by the success of the clothes swap.”
Plans are already in place for another such event.
