Wednesday 31st May: Shavuot and home-baked Cheesecake competition

Shavuot is marked by the eating of cheesecake, making it amongst my favourite festivals!  This may be a reference to the land ‘flowing with milk and honey’ or simply part of the cycle of food-related harvest festivals.

This year, we will be celebrating at the home of Ben and Rachael, starting with a cheesecake competition for adults and children.  The competition will be judged by Jonathan Cowap, presenter of BBC Radio York’s Sunday morning breakfast show.

It will be followed by a short service led by Student Rabbi Deborah Blausten, (6-7.30pm).  Please bring a cheesecake for tasting and come ready to eat!

There will also be an opportunity for children on the night to make their own cheesecake but please do let us know you are coming so we can cater appropriately.
