York will host a number of events during National Interfaith Week, each inviting you to discover more about our diverse and vibrant faith communities, beliefs, traditions, values and contributions to 21st Century York life.  Here is the full programme, including our own interfaith service on the 16th November:

Saturday 9th November

10 to 12pm  ‘TreeLoving Care’event to open the week –Clifton Bridge area. Together with’ Treemendous York’ York Interfaith Group will be doing some weeding, planting and revisiting the sections we helped to plant a few years ago. All ages and abilities welcome. 1pm to 3pm ‘Faith & Family Roots’at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints,  Acomb Rd, Acomb. York. YO24 4HA.. Sunday 10th  November

2pm to 3.30pm‘The Ampersand Challenge’. Please join us for our Interfaith Friendship Walk: starts at Memorial Gardens at 2pm; ends at Museum Gardens. A shared route through central York, tracing the shape of an ‘&’. Get to know new people from other faiths or no faith: me & you walking together, making a difference. Takes approx. 1hr. Monday 11th November

7.30pm The Baha’i community of York Invites you to a screening of ‘Dawn of the Light’,a film commemorating the bicentenary of the birth of the Bab, one of the founding figures of the Baha’I Faith. Tuesday 12th November

11am to 4pm – York Mosque, Bull Lane. York.Open Day at the Mosque with a chance to see the new building and talk to members of the Mosque. Refreshments available

Wednesday 13th November

7.30 to 9pm ‘Promoting interfaith understanding & cooperation amongst young people – Face to Faith’at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Acomb, York YO24 4HA. This is an opportunity for young people of all faiths to come together and chat with one another in a relaxed setting with fun activities and light refreshments. . Thursday 14th November

7.3pm to 9pm ‘Faith in Fostering’ with James Lee from the City of York Council,Children’s Services. at The Bar Convent, 17 Blossom Street, York YO24 1AQ. 1pm to 3pm Interfaith Café in Penn Room at Friends Meeting House, Castlegate, York . Call in for a chat to members of various faith groups over a cuppa and cakes. There will be activities for young children and also a new Interfaith game to look at and possibly even play. (01904-624065)

11am to 12.15pm Interfaith Service of York Liberal Jewish Communityat Friends Meeting House followed by a bring & share lunch (vegetarian & permitted fish)

2pm to 4pm York Interfaith Group 30thAnniversary Celebration & Social Event– De Grey 125,  York St John University, Lord Mayors Walk, York.
